Open-top PLCC sockets are also called auto-eject sockets.
Adapters made with them cost less than those with clam-shell sockets.
If used properly, they can increase through-put in production.
On the other hand, their contact pins can be easily bent or broken if a device is forced into the socket before being placed properly at the opening of the programming socket. |

To load a device: 1. Must make sure device is aligned squarely and is horizontal. 2. Push it down in the middle, gently, do not force. If you cannot push it down gently, the device may not be aligned squarely, or may not be in a horizontal position. |

To un-load a device: 1. Push down on the top edges of socket with a fast action. 2. Device will be ejected (pop up). |
